Microblading in Portland Oregon and Salem Oregon

Pre & Post Care For Microblading

Prepare for your microblading procedure:

The procedure area must be healthy, strong, non-sensitive and non-irritated. Here’s how to get your skin ready for the procedure.

  • Do not pick/tweeze/wax/perform electrolysis one week before the procedure

  • Do not tan two weeks prior or have sunburned face/skin

  • Do not have any type of facial 2 weeks prior to treatment

  • Do not work out the day of the procedure.

  • Do not have botox 3 weeks prior

  • Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E one week prior (natural blood thinners)

  • Do not wax or tint your eyebrows 3 days before the procedure.

In order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor colour deposit:

  • Do not drink alcohol 24 - 48 hours before your tattoo

  • Do not consume coffee or any caffeine before your procedure

  • Do not take an aspirin or ibuprofen for pain relief (this thins the blood).

  • If you plan to go on a vacation, it is recommended to plan your trip a minimum of 10 days after the procedure due to the aftercare maintenance.

AFTERCARE

Wash your hands thoroughly before touching the tattooed area.

  • Week 1: Keep the tattooed area clean by rinsing with lukewarm water and patting dry with a disposable paper towel 3 times a day, then apply thin layer of the after care ointment provided. Apply using a disposable cotton swab.

  • Week 2: Keep cleaning them with lukewarm water twice a day for the second week, no ointment.

  • You may shower or bathe normally, but avoid using any soaps or cleansers on the treated area for the first week as they can be detrimental to the bonding process that must take place for the pigment to stabilize in the dermis.

  • Do NOT pick or scratch at the dry skin/flakiness; let the skin fall off naturally. Picking can cause scarring and premature loss of pigment. IMPORTANT: Once the flakes have fallen off, a shiny layer of healing skin will completely cover the hair strokes. It will appear as though the eyebrows are gone. Within 1-2 weeks, the hair strokes will slowly reappear at a lighter shade as your skin regenerates.

  • You must avoid working out for 1 week following your appointment. Light exercising is allowed (minimal sweating), but you MUST clean the tattooed area with lukewarm water as soon as you are done exercising. The salt in the sweat will fade the pigment very quickly and give poor results.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure for the first 14 days.

  • Do NOT apply make-up to the tattooed area for the first 2 weeks. Chemicals of any kind may interfere with the healing and color of your tattoo.

  • No swimming pools, jacuzzis or other bodies of water for two weeks.

  • Do NOT soak your face underwater in a bathtub or allow the shower to spray directly in your face for two weeks.

Do Not

Do not apply makeup or lotion to the brow area for 10-14 days and when you do, please ensure your makeup brushes/pencils are sanitized.

  • No sun exposure, saunas, swimming, working out or hot tubs, heavy sweating for two weeks.

  • Do not get Botox injections until your brows are fully healed in 30 days.

  • Do not attempt to remove or pick at any scabbing, please allow the skin to heal itself as this can cause loss of pigment, unsatisfactory results and/or serious infection.

  • Do not touch or rub the healing pigmented area unless your hands are sterile and washed, as this can create an infection.

  • Do not pick, rub or scratch scabs! Avoid sleeping on face.

  • Do not use Products that contain anti aging glycolic, lactic, AHA and retinol acids will fade your pigment faster over time. This includes anything with chemical exfoliants such as Retinol, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, etc.

Do

Keep brows dry (Outside of cleaning instructions: no shower water, sauna, hot tub, lake, ocean, AND sweat) until your brows are completely healed (Aka no scabbing or flaking left) Usually 7 to 10 days.

  • If you experience any swelling, blistering or puss, discontinue your aftercare product and contact a doctor. Additionally, if you experience any excessive redness, tenderness or red streaks from the brow, elevated temperature or drainage from the brow, consult a doctor as the area may be infected.

  • After your brows have fully healed, maintain pigment retention by using sunblock daily on brow area.

  • During the 7 days of healing, you will need to keep your brows dry in the shower. Drenched healing brows along with steamy hot showers will cause the pores to open and scabs soften, keeping your skin from retaining hair stroke pigment.
