Wet V.S. Dry healing methods

The one thing I hear in the first 10 minutes of meeting a new client: “ I have to keep my brows DRY for 2 weeks… right?”

There is SO MUCH information out there regarding aftercare for microblading and shading. So, what’s the deal? Do you keep them dry and apply nothing to your new brows? Do you wash them and put grapeseed oil on them? One website says one thing, another artist says “you absolutely can’t shower or wash your face,” while your friend who has a friend that is in the industry highly recommends saturating your new brows with Aquaphor (this happened to me years ago, PLEASE DON’T DO THIS!)

The thing is bad information can lead to bad healing. So, what is the best method in regards to wet vs. dry healing? I believe in the WET, HANDS DOWN - the universal best standard in wound care management! I mean, this is your face we are talking about.

The wet method consists of daily cleansing (but, please don’t scrub your eyebrows with your cleanser.) Gently rinse your new brows with lukewarm water ONLY, 2-3 times a day for the first week. This helps prevent bacterial buildup. Then apply the healing ointment provided and use as directed. The wet method also helps with pigment retention for oily skin. Above everything else, the area NEEDS TO STAY CLEAN.

Products that should be avoided during the healing process:

  • Pore-clogging petroleum (AQUAPHOR)

  • Runny oils

  • Scented products which can further irritate the skin

Products should not build up on the skin which prevents the skin from breathing. I personally recommend a healing gel with 20-30 PPM silver that inhibits the growth of micro-organisms, which is also great for oily skin healing. I provide this to all my clients at no additional charge. It is also available in larger quantities for purchase!
